JK Racing Asia Series 2011

The Series was formerly known as Formula BMW Pacific. After the pull-out of BMW from Formula at the end of 2009, Formula BMW Pacific suffered the repercussion and it was saved by JK Tyre Industries from India.

JK Tyre Industries have agreed to invest in the title rights to the series for the next 3 seasons, as part of their JK Racing programme in order to capitalize on their Indian F1 Grand Prix. JK Tyres & Industries have been involved in the Asian motorsport for over 20 years.  JK is a major supplier of tyres to the Indian market and in 1996 JK supported Meritus' first Asian champion Narain Karthikeyan, and have since helped Karun Chandhok and Armaan Ebrahim.

In 2011,  a new Series called JK Racing Asia Series (JKRAS), which utilise the same Formula BMW car FB02 takes place. The JK Racing Asia Series is open to drivers from the age of 14 to 23 and has been promoted by Motorsport Asia for the last eight years as part of its Asian Festival of Speed (AFOS) event. The 2011 championship will support 3 Asian F1 Grands Prix: Malaysia, Singapore and the inaugural Indian Grand Prix. There will be a total of 6 events with 18 rounds of races.

Rotax Max Challenge - Asia & Malaysia Series 2011

BRP Rotax began their involvement in karting back in the 1980’s when they produced a limited number of high performance 100cc engines for racing purposes. At times Rotax was the dominant force in international karting, for example in the 1988 CIK Karting World Championships 9 out of the top 10 positions went to drivers on Rotax engines.

In 1997 Rotax launched the “Max” Engines, and in 1999 they launched their own International racing series - the Rotax Max Challenge - which is raced in countries all over the world and culminates in a Grand Final race into which the top drivers from national and regional Max Challenge are invited to take part to determine the overall Max Challenge Champions.

The Rotax Max engines and the Rotax Max Challenge have changed the face of the Karting World. The Rotax Grand Finals is one of the largest karting events on the calendar. Over 200 drivers from over 50 countries take part in the racing action
