Mohamad Afiq Ikhwan Mohamad Yazid, is a passionate young Malaysian race driver with strong natural talent,an excellent sense of race craft as well as vast amount of experience. Afiq Ikhwan is quickly gaining recognition in the Asian and Malaysia Motorsports scenes. Started his racing career in 2007 and within 3 years in the sports he has won 3 karting championship titles and a season in the Formula BMW Pacific Series. Afiq Ikhwan is the reigning (2010) Champion of the Asia and Malaysia Rotax Max Karting Challenge.  In 2008 he won his first Karting Championship title i.e the KKS/AAM Malaysia Karting Championship.

Afiq had his first experience in a Formula Car in 2008 when he was selected to the Petronas Formula Experience (PFX) programme. In the  PFX 2008 programme which was exclusive for Malaysian, Afiq was the only driver that finishes all the PFX School 4 races on the podium whilst clocking 3 fastest laps in 3 different races.

In 2010, Afiq was awarded by Team Meritus-GP a racing scholarship to race in the 2010 Formula BMW Pacific Series after a successful testing. The Award was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia in March 2010.

In the highly competitive Formula BMW Pacific Series 2010, Afiq with his string of strong performances managed to finish 6th Overall in the Championship. In 2011, the Formula BMW Pacific Series was called JK RAcing Asia Series after BMW decided to pull out of the series. In 2011 with the support of Team Meritus.GP & Petronas, Afiq Ikhwan was crowned as the vice champion with only 7 points adrift of  becoming the champion. Afiq made history in the series when he won 10 out of 18 rounds of the series with three 2nd placing and two 3rd placing. With the confidence build and the experience gained in the first ever JK Racing Asia Series in 2011.

Again in 2012, Afiq is supported by the most successful racing team in Asia, Team Meritus.GP Petronas, the team that has given him the guidance an the opportunity to build on his talent. Team MeritusGP is supported by the Malaysian Corporate PETRONAS. In 2012 Afiq Ikhwan is driving the Meritus.GP Car No.: 88.
